Hannah playing with her tea cupsDebbie and Hannah went to Guatemala City for the weekend to visit with Scott, Jessica and Josie at the The Westin Camino Real. The hotel has a nice pool and Hannah loves the pool. She even wanted to take “pup-pup” into the pool with her, but Mommy would not let her. Hannah had a great time. We can’t wait for her to come home where she can have her own pool.
Mayra has called her “contact” at the Civil Registry to check on the birth certificate. Her contact said she would do the best she can to get it done for Wednesday or first thing Thursday morning. This will save us several days. The birth certificate has to be translated by a certified translator and submitted to the US Embassy before we can get our 2nd DNA authorization. The US Embassy does not accept adoption paperwork on Fridays and then Monday is Labor Day. We would then have to wait until Tuesday to submit our paperwork for the 2nd DNA authorization. We hope we can get it done on Thursday. The Civil Registry is very busy right now because after Friday they will be part of RENAP. All requests currently in process have to be done before Friday.

Hannah just keeps growing. If she does not come home soon she will be too big for all her 12 month clothing. Even though she is 19 months old, she is still wearing 12 month clothing. She does not say Hannah yet, but she says “nana”. She is learning eyes, nose, lips and ears. While she was staying at the Westin Camino Real she had to sleep with “pup-pup”. Mommy took “pup-pup” out of the crib during to night. Hannah woke up in the morning and started looking for “pup-pup”. It was really cute. We think she needed “pup-pup” for security since she was in a strange place. We hope she does ok with the changes once she comes home. She has been through many changes in her short little life. She lived with her birth mother for a few months, then her first foster family, then the second foster family, then the orphanage, then Aby and finally with Debbie. She lived in the apartment with Debbie, then the house and back to the apartment. She also stayed with us several times in the hotel before Debbie moved to Guatemala. This must be confusing to her. She will always be with us from now on. Also this is the third language she had heard. Her birth mother speaks Q'eqchi', the foster families and the people at the orphanage speak Spanish and we speak English.
